PROJECT BRIEF

Support Volkswagen in the creation of their technology showcase vehicle. Project was behind schedule and required subject matter expertise in design, generative design, emerging technology applications and prototyping. Support in the creation of new wheel designs, mirror posts, steering wheel, and vehicle cabin design

Consulting Designer, wheel designer, interior cabin consultant, prototyping lead

PROJECT OUTCOME

First vehicle to use generative design for wheel design, creation of technology showcase in time for Volkswagen press release, creation of interest in generative design for automotive industry, demonstration and education of Volkswagen in the use of emerging technology for real application, consultation and standardization of digital prototyping processes and technologies for use in research

METHOD

Identification of core pain points, necessary deliverables, and timelines to completion. Reorganization of priorities for work, trusted design and validate methodology for all design work applied, abandonment of waterfall process in favor of more rapid workflows to ensure all deliverables were met.

PROCESS

Primarily consultation, leading others to the goal, stepping in when expertise was necessary. Primary function was to lead on certain design processes and generate functioning workflows for others to follow
